creative assistance for independent & professional artists
my experience
-
all work remains confidential
I act as a mentor and creative catalyst _ together we:
-
explore the artist's creative journey
-
focus on the artist's ideas
-
look at the artist's source material for imagery
-
suggest areas of research for the artist
-
consider the artist's technical artmaking skills and offer practical advice
-
encourage the artist find ways to integrate their ideas and their tangible artworks to create a resolved body of work
-
help the artist to compose any artwriting needed to accompany their work
-
investigate creative pathways moving forwards
I also undertake online creative assistance via ZOOM
between 2008 and 2012 I was a part-time lecturer in the Visual Arts Department at the University of South Africa (Unisa) where my responsibilities included:
-
working with the senior students
-
encouraging their research skills and critical thinking
-
coaching them in terms of integrating their ideas and their making processes.
in 2013 I established outoftheCUBE, an exhibiting platform to showcase the work of mid-career artists. Via outoftheCUBE I have:
-
assisted many artists creatively
-
interviewed artists
-
curated many exhibitions - online and in real-life
in 2018 I joined The Printing Girls, a collective of South African female printmakers. Now on the admin team, I assist some members creatively and technically.
